This past week

This past week has been really nice.
My sister came to visit me twice.
My dad came for a week to help me out.
And my good friend Klaudia and her boys dropped by too!
I am almost 39 weeks, so you can imagine how hard it's been to leave the house.

We bought Kacper a ball tent, which he's lovin'

Already Thinking About My Backyard Garden

I am currently obssessed about turning my boring backyard into a beautiful garden! I winter is not nearly over, but that gives me plenty of time to plan out my "Secret Garden Oasis". I have an idea of what I want, so check out the picture below...

What I really want is something like this...

... a cute little path surrounded by little trees, shrubs and flowers of all colours and shapes. I want to be able to walk this path around the backyard and hide little bird houses and surprises along the way.
I have a 14 month old and a second boy on the way, so as I plan this, I want to make it a fun place for them to grow, play and learn about nature.

Here are some other inspiring pictures I found on the net:

DIY Pearl Ball

This was initially going to be one of many Christmas Tree ornaments I would create this year, but what I learned after just making one, is that it's just too heavy for a Christmas Tree.

They do look gorgeous though, so even if you're going to use only for display in a vase, or on a shelf with other white or glass decor, it just sparkles and looks very pretty!

To make your own all you need is:

  • Pearls (I used dollar store pearl necklaces)
  • Styrofoam balls
  • Pins

First step is simple; using a pin, thread the pearl and pierce the Styrofoam ball.

Using this method, you will want to surround each pearl with a series of pearls, leaving a 'mm' of space between, to allow for security. I found that if they were too tight together, then they would "pop out", or "jiggle". This is important if you want this ball to last you a long time.

And here is the finished ball.

Hope you like this quick and easy DIY project!

Christmas Hanging

I wanted to do something different this year, so I decided to decorate the empty space above my dining table. We got some branches from outside, tied them together and hung Christmas bulbs using fishing line, to make it look like they are floating. I'm going to add some Christmas Tree branches to add some greenery, but here it is so far...
